Intermediate Process Engineer

Bluestar Engineering Ltd. is a Calgary based EPCM company specializing in small to medium size oil and gas projects. We are a group of professionals who form a fully integrated, multi-disciplinary organization backed by many years of experience.

 

We are currently seeking a Intermediate Process Engineer to join our team.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work will range from conceptual studies to detailed process engineering for new facilities, MOC project and de-bottleneck reviews. Complete detailed engineering design activities including, but not limited to:

o Modeling, simulations and calculations of process units and process systems.

o Dynamic pipeline modeling o Equipment sizing reviews and technical evaluation

o Authentication of Drawings, Calculation and other Technical Documents o Project Scoping and FEED Study collaboration

o HAZOP meeting participation. o In field commissioning and trouble shooting

o Collaboration with project teams in both leadership and supporting roles as needed

• Prepare and review of process engineering project deliverables including, but not limited to:

o PFD’s, P&ID’s and Shutdown Keys.

o Control valves, PSV and instrument data sheets.

o Sizing calculations of equipment, piping, safety and control instruments, and data sheets.

o Control and Process Narrative writing • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, vendors and client.

• Complete technical bid evaluations for package equipment (new and surplus options).

• Active involvement in problem solving and decision making in regard to process engineering and advising the project management teams accordingly.

• Execute and review Feasibility Studies / Conceptual Design / Process Studies/ Detail Engineering Design.

• Supervise and verify process simulations & modeling of oil processing facilities.

• Liaise with vendors and client on engineering issues.

 

Requirements:

• Chemical Engineering degree is required.

• Registered as a P.Eng. with APEGA.

• 10+ years of experience in process engineering with involvement in design, construction and project management pertaining to the oil and gas industry.

• EPCM experience is preferred.

• Experience with PFDs, P&IDs and HAZOPs.

• Deep working knowledge of HYSYS. Applicants should have proofed templates for typical process operations that they can use with a high degree of confidence.

• Experienced in both greenfield and brownfield projects.

• Experience working in the field trouble shooting and providing commissioning support for gas plants.

• Experience ensuring project designs are compliant with project goals, client and industry specifications and regulatory standards.

• Experience participating in Design Basis Memorandum (DBM) development.

• Driven individual with the capacity to manage several tasks, while ensuring deadlines are met. • History of fostering positive client relationships built on mutual trust and respect.

• Proficient in Bluebeam, AutoDesk Navisworks Freedom, AutoDesk DWG Viewer, Microsoft Office, HYSYS, DWSIM, and PIPESIM.
