Bluestar Engineering Ltd. is a Calgary based EPCM company specializing in small to medium size oil and gas projects. We are a group of professionals who form a fully integrated multi-disciplinary organization backed by many years of experience.

 

We are currently seeking an Financial Controller / Manager who is eager to continue their career with our fast-paced, growing company while working alongside multiple project teams to make decisions within established guidelines.

 

This position is a temporary position as the employee currently filling this position will be going on Maternity Leave. A possibility for extension and/or permanent employment is a possibility and will be evaluated

 

The Financial Controller is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Finance Department including but not limited to:

• Overseeing all corporate and operational accounting functions including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Timesheet entry/reconciliation and management reporting

• Preparing monthly and year end financial statements

• Supporting month-end and year-end close process

• Assisting management with cash flow analysis and long range financial planning

• Complete T4s and T5s

• Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances

• Research technical accounting issues for compliance as required

• Additional controller duties as necessary

• Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions

• Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results

• Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements

• Coordinating activities of external auditors

• Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process

• Managing the budget process

• Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes

• Evaluating accounting and internal control systems

• Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed

• Developing and monitoring business performance metrics

• Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance

• Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff as required

 

Qualifications:

• CPA designation

• 3+ years of supervisory experience

• 8+ years of full-cycle accounting

• Experience creating financial statements and corresponding notes

• Strong understanding of financial reporting best practices

 

Job Types:

Full-time, Fixed term contract
