Bluestar Engineering Ltd. is a Calgary-based EPCM company specializing in oil and gas and renewables projects. We are a group of professionals who form a fully integrated multi-disciplinary organization backed by many years of experience.

 

We are currently seeking an Accounting Analyst to join our team. We are seeking someone eager to continue their career with our fast-paced, growing company and looking to fill the role of Accounting Analyst.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Accounting

· Maintain general ledger.
· Provide direction and guidance to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including backup support.
· Provide guidance and backup support for timesheet entry and reconciliation.
· Perform all payroll functions, including payroll, remittances, T4 preparation and other reporting as required, benefit reconciliations.
· Perform account reconciliations.
· Perform month end entries, including WIP, Prepaids, Allocations as necessary.
· Complete filing and data entry tasks as needed.
· Collections for overdue invoices.
· Organize and maintain company and staff records.
· Project Controls.
· Update weekly cost curves.
· Submit monthly incurred cost reports.
· Forecast weekly cost and human hours.

 

Financial Planning and Reporting

· Assist in development of the annual budget and provide input regarding in-year financial management.
· Maintain cash forecasts, profitability, and client revenue reports.
· Maintain financial budgets and performance targets.

 

Departmental Support

· Provide backup and guidance for all areas in the Accounting department.
· Assist the Financial Controller with any other tasks as required.

 

Requirements:
· Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance would be considered an asset, or combination of experience and training.
· 3-5 years experience in a similar role, with experience using Sage 50.
· High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with a focus in Excel.
· Strong understanding of payroll legislation.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Motivated, self-starter with exceptional prioritization and organization skills.
· Ability to adjust to change and multitask in a fast-paced setting.
· Demonstrated professionalism with colleagues and clients in person, by email, and by phone.
· Friendly, personable, and able to work in a team environment.
· Desire to learn and develop professionally.
· Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
